Overview
Visibility deliveries in the OneRail platform are designed to support logistics partners (LPs) that are associated with shippers operating outside of the OneRail booking process. While these shippers may be technically capable of API integration, their deliveries are not being routed or fulfilled through the OneRail booking process. Instead, they originate from external sources and are managed independently. The purpose of visibility deliveries is to provide event tracking and shipment transparency for these deliveries.

Key Rules & Best Practices
Area | Standard |
---|---|
Network Participation | Visibility deliveries do not engage with the OneRail network for carrier selection or optimization. |
Delivery Source | All visibility orders are created from external systems and not generated via the OneRail Delivery API. |
LP Assignment | The logistics partner responsible for event updates is defined at the time of order creation. |
Order Updates | The assigned LP is expected to send back delivery event data to the OneRail platform for visibility tracking. |
Process
Creating a Visibility Delivery
- Visibility deliveries are created through systems external to OneRail, typically by the shipper.
- Upon creation, the LP that will report delivery events (e.g., PICKED_UP, DELIVERED) is selected and registered on the order.
- These orders are not rate-shopped or matched to carriers within OneRail.
- SCAC code is required from the shipper to track the events provided by the LP
LP Event Reporting
- The selected LP must feed delivery status updates back into OneRail’s visibility infrastructure.
- Updates can include standard events and optional events tracking.
Visibility support ensures shippers using external carriers still maintain consistent tracking and customer visibility in the OneRail platform, even without full API integration or marketplace participation.
