This guide is for users who are new to Orderbot and would like to understand the basics of placing an order. For a more detailed explanation of Orderpad features, see our page on Understanding the OrderPad.
Create an order
Follow these steps to create a basic order.
Go to Customers > Manage Customers or Orders > New Order. (Both options will lead to the same search page.)
- Use various filters to search for the customer for whom you will place the order. In our example, we're filtering by company name, but you could also filter by postal code, name, customer ID, etc.
- Click Order.
- The orderpad will open in the same window.
- To being ordering, click on the category link to bring up a list of products. (In our screenshot above, the category is called 'Electronics') If a group drop down appears, select the group you'd like to go into.
- Add a quantity (QTY) in the empty field next to each product you would like to add. Then click Add. (You don't need to click it multiple times for each product. Just clicking any add button on the orderpad will add all products that have a QTY.)
- If you have products that are set up with a parent-child relationship and have variables (e.g. different colours and texture) to select, you'll see a grid button instead. Click that to bring up a page where you can enter quantities for each size/texture combination you would like to add.
- Apply any product discounts using the $ sign next to each product.
- Click on the Shipping tab. This page allows you change your shipping settings. For this basic order walkthrough, just focus on making sure that you've selected a distribution centre, shipping carrier, and shipping method from the dropdown. Check that all required fields on the shipping address are filled. Click Save Shipping Details.
- Don't forget this step, or your shipping details will not be saved.
- Click on the Payment tab. Select a payment type such as credit card, account, or CIM.
- If you select credit card, fill out all required fields and then click Save Payment Details. If there is no payment to enter at this time, tick "Do Not Process Payment" and then click Save Payment Details.
- Don't forget this step, or your payment details will not be saved.
- When you're ready to finish your order, click Submit Order.
